2012 Lamborghini Aventador J Concept

The 2012 Lamborghini Aventador J Concept was more than just a concept when it was first introduced. It would become Lamborghini’s new flagship model as it assumed the mantel of replacing the iconic and beloved Murciélago.

The 700-horsepower 2012 Lamborghini Aventador J Concept two-seater was designed to highlight the new brand direction for Lamborghini. It emphasized the direction the company would move in with materials. Most important would be its demonstration of the company’s unparalleled capabilities with the technology of carbon fiber.

Exterior

Two important focuses of the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador J Concept were on weight and aerodynamics. The concept would have less weight than the Murciélago. Aerodynamics were enhanced with designers moving the cool air intake, so crucial to brake and engine cooling, to the side panels along the rear of the car.

Unique exterior design elements about on the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador J Concept. The high points of this open-air roadster are the rearview mirror that sits elevated on a pole between the passenger and the driver and the two rollover bars in place behind their seats.

Another unique element of the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador J Concept is the cockpit seating of the passenger and driver. They don’t have a single windshield in front of them. Instead they sit behind individual wind deflectors.

Interior

The 2012 Lamborghini Aventador J Concept is a demonstration of the manufacturer’s commitment to forged composite parts. (Its use is extensively seen in the bucket seats.) The composite material is carbon fiber. The first use of it by Lamborghini was in the monocoque for the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento.

The seats are dressed in a material called CarbonSkin. Lamborghini patented the process and its first application is in the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador J Concept. CarbonSkin is a carbon-fiber based textile.

Performance

The 2012 Lamborghini Aventador J Concept boasts a 0-60 mph speed of 2.9 seconds. The 2012 model comes with a 6.5-liter V12 engine, AWD, and has 700 horsepower.
